A Great Place to Work, Play, Live, and Learn

Coastal Living Magazine said it best when it named Wilmington, NC a “coastal dream town”. But, the magazine that celebrates life along the coast is not the only publication heaping praise on the Greater Wilmington area.

Wilmington has consistently garnered kudos for its favorable business climate, its healthy real estate market, its exceptional arts and cultural scene, its top-notch learning institutions and medical facilities, its beautiful surrounding beaches and more. No wonder Money magazine named Wilmington, NC one of The Best Places to Live and one of The Top Ten Cities in which to buy real estate!

Located on the Southeastern tip of North Carolina, Wilmington, NC is sandwiched between gorgeous Atlantic beaches and the tranquil waters of the Cape Fear River.

Home to more than 100,000 residents, this fast-growing city has been on everyone’s Places to Watch list during its past decade of explosive growth (Speaking of “watching”, even the popular television show HouseHunters featured Wilmington, NC in 2007). Nearly 275 years old, Wilmington offers both the charms of the historic South and the appeal of a thriving, contemporary small city.

The historic downtown residential and business district has a flourishing arts community, independently owned restaurants and shops, and a number of museums and tourist attractions. Frommer's Budget Travel (2006) lists historic Wilmington, NC among The Nation's Most Walkable Cities. The picturesque Riverwalk faces the World War II memorial Battleship North Carolina, and continues to grow with the recent expansion of the business district as well as a new convention center and marina.

But people don’t just come to Wilmington, NC for the walking; they also want to enjoy the swimming, sunbathing, and water sports activities of the beach communities that surround the city: Pleasure Island, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Fort Fisher and Wrightsville Beach. These pristine sandy beaches with their boardwalks, piers, and marinas are a haven for nature lovers, anglers, mariners, sun worshippers and water sports enthusiasts.
